Sarah Reyes Haakonsen, O.D.

Dr. Sarah R. Haakonsen earned her Doctor of Optometry degree at the New England College of Optometry, in Boston Massachusetts in 1990 and has served the Southern California area for the past 15 years, in various clinical settings in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Ventura counties. Her experience includes an internship and clinical training in ocular disease at Omni Eye Services in Baltimore, Maryland and the Veterans Administration Medical Clinic in Boston. She has gained advanced certification and demonstrates expertise in the use of state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques to deliver comprehensive and accurate eye care. Dr. Haakonsen also has extensive clinical experience in contact lens fitting, spectacle dispensing and the use of DPA and TPA routinely in coordination with Ophthalmologists in general ophthalmology and refractive surgery, including LASIK. For seven years, she was the lead Optometrist at Mullikin Medical Center in Glendale, California. Dr. Haakonsen also holds a degree in Biology from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

Theresa Nguyen, O.D.

Dr. Theresa Nguyen earned her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to that, she received a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Houston, TX, where she also minored in nutrition. Her experiences include internships and clinical training at the Lake City Veterans Administration Medical Clinic in Florida, The Illinois Eye Institute in Chicago, Family Vision Care Optometry in Valencia, and Swagel Wootton Hiatt Eye Center in Mesa, AZ. During these internships, she received extensive training in primary optometric care as well as pre-operative and post-operative management of glaucoma, cataracts, retinal disease, specialty contact lens fittings, and laser vision correction. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, and the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Nguyen is a therapeutic and glaucoma certified optometrist. She practices full scope primary care optometry with an emphasis in contact lenses. She believes in staying updated with the latest advancements in technology and new contact lens products to provide the best patient care. Dr. Nguyen also speaks Vietnamese and Norwegian fluently.
